3 Friendship Red Flags

Not all friendships are healthy and full of fun. Sometimes you can make friends with people who are actually quite toxic and ignore the initial warning signs. Here are some friendship red flags that are easy to brush off, but can be signs of where the relationship is heading. Only the people within a friendship know what is going on, so make sure to listen to your intuition.

They Dismiss Your Interests

When someone is dismissive of all your interests and achievements, yet still make you listen to how they are so amazing at everything they do (even if it's really boring), it shows that they don't actually care about you that much. If you are constantly having to push your thoughts and opinions into the conversation and they still don't listen, it may be time to re-evaluate the friendship.

They Make Rude Comments About People You Know

If they want to vent to you about their friends and how they're annoying them, that's their business, but if they are saying disrespectful things about people that are close to you, then they are just being plain rude. Your friends should be aware of the fact that you have other people in your life and should know that being mean about someone else isn't going to make you like them more.

The Friendship Feels One-Sided

Do you feel like the needs of your friend come before yours? This is what it's like to be part of a one-sided friendship. Not all friendships necessarily need to be a 50-50 split in terms of everything, but it's certainly not right to feel like you're constantly taking a backseat to someone else's thoughts and feelings. Make sure you know what your friendship boundaries are and pay attention to the red flags that resonate with you.
