An iconic snack loved by many, Pop-Tarts are delicious, and who knew they were so easy to make? For those who like a dessert, or a yummy brunch bite, these sweet strawberry delights are perfect for you.

250g Plain Flour

1 1/2 tbsp Caster Sugar

1 tsp Salt

200g Cold Butter

1 Egg (and a bit more for brushing)

1 1/2 tbsp Milk

For The Filling:

200g Strawberry Jam

1 tbsp Cornflour

For The Topping:

200g Icing Sugar

Pink Food Colouring

Strawberry or Chocolate Sauce

Preheat the oven to GM 5, and line two baking trays with grease-proof paper.

To make the pastry, combine the flour, salt and sugar in a bowl, then mix in the butter by hand till the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.

Stir in the egg and the milk until the breadcrumbs become a dough.

Warm up the strawberry jam and cornflour on a low heat until it's not so lumpy, then leave aside to cool.

Roll the dough to about 3mm in thickness.

Then cut the dough into rectangles.

There should be at least 10.

Lay out half of the rectangles on the baking trays.

Spoon a large tablespoon of jam to each rectangle, leaving a border around the edge. Use the egg to brush around the edge and put the remaining pastry rectangles on top. Using a fork, press down the edges then poke a hole on top of each Pop-Tart.

Lastly, brush each one with egg and bake for about 20 minutes until golden.

Move to a wire rack to cool.

For the glaze, mix icing sugar, a bit of pink food colouring (for a nice pink tint) and a little water until you have your desired consistency.

Dip each tart into the glaze and add some sprinkles on top.

Add some strawberry or chocolate sauce on top.
