How To Stay Positive

Let's be honest, there has been quite a lot of negativity around us at the moment. From Storms Ciara and Dennis, to a virus that has everyone worried. Especially in a time like this, we need people to look up to for guidance, but there haven't been many of them around lately either. Which is why, radiating positivity from ourselves has never been more important.


Like many of us, positivity doesn't always come naturally, so luckily there are some tips and tricks on how to keep the sunshine in your life. The thing to remember is, the bad will never go away, it's just a part of life, you can't have a rainbow without a little bit of rain.


However, though you can't always change the bad, you can change the way you think about it. In a world full of people who can now voice everything they are thinking online, it can be difficult to know which thoughts are yours and which come from someone else.

1. Common Sense

Common sense is one of those strange things that comes and goes with the times. We all get worried, it's just something we can't help, but what's the point of worrying when there's actually nothing to worry about? So many people tell us so many different things on a daily basis, it can be difficult to know who to believe. For the most part, it's best to just sit back, and think for yourself.


2. Acceptance

Although it's hard to admit, what will be will be. There are plenty of things going on in the world at the moment that we can't control. Yes, they may cause some problems, but at the end of the day, life's too short to stress about things beyond our control. Life is messy and things don't always go our way, and accepting that will bring you one step closer to positivity.


3. Speak

I can't stress this enough, do not keep your feelings in. I've spoken before about how if you have a problem, there should be no shame in talking to someone about it, and guess what? It's still true! Whether it be a family member, a friend or a counsellor, tell someone what's going on in your head, because believe it or not, you're not the only person to have had that thought.


4. Do What Makes You Happy

For some reason, we live in a world where stopping for a minute and relaxing makes us feel guilty. Why is that you ask? Well, for some, watching TV makes them happy, for others it's going shopping. The thing is, we think that because what we're doing isn't productive, we shouldn't do it. Remember though, being happy should never be a waste of time.


5. Get Rid Of Negativity

Earlier I talked about acceptance, and how there are things you can't control. However, there are things that you can control, and ways to do it. Cutting out negativity can be a difficult task, but one that we must do nonetheless. Having toxic energy around us, keeps us from letting positive energy in. So, get rid of that toxicity and embrace the positive.
