2019 spoiled us with such good TV. Amazing shows like Fleabag and The Crown caught our attention, while the ending of some shows (Game of Thrones) left us not knowing how to react.
Luckily, 2019 also brought us the beginning of some great shows like Sex Education and Euphoria to get excited about. Let's not forget about all the spin-offs we're getting as well, such as, Katy Keene.
Find out my picks for the TV shows to look forward to in 2020 below:
1. Sex Education
Thank you Netflix for bringing this show back. For those of you who haven't seen it, rather awkward high school student Otis, played brilliantly by Asa Butterfield, becomes his school's unofficial sex-therapist, but often realises he needs some therapy of his own too. However, this show isn't just about sex, it's also about learning about life and how hard it can be for some people. The second season is out already, so start watching.
2. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Sabrina the Teenage Witch was such a hugely popular show, that when this reboot came out, people weren't sure what to think. If I'm being honest though, considering the two shows have the same characters, they are both very different, one being a comedy and the other a drama. Part 3 of the show will be released on January 24th on Netflix and hopefully we'll be seeing Sabrina go to Hell to retrieve her warlock boyfriend, (it really isn't as strange as it sounds).
This show has definitely had it's highs and it's lows, and honestly after season 3 I was close to giving up. That was until there was doubt put upon Jughead's fate. The show has become even more unrealistic than it started out being (I mean, I don't think I've ever met anybody sent to jail by their girlfriend's dad, then escape, then get attacked by a bear, all while they're still in high school). However, no matter how crazy it gets, I still get excited to watch every week. Season 4 part 2 will be released January 23rd, with viewers wondering what's going to happen to Jughead.
Not too much is known about this new series, but since it's created by Ryan Murphy, creator of Glee, American Horror Story and The Politician, I don't think we have anything to worry about. The show will be about Hollywood in the 1940s with Darren Criss being cast as a leading man. The series is to be released in May with many of us excited to see what it brings.
5. New Gossip Girl
There wasn't a teenage girl out there who didn't love Gossip Girl. Spawning from such an iconic show, it will be interesting to see how this reboot will hold up. Set a few years after the original show ended, it will revolve around the new Upper East Siders we are yet to meet. The premiere date is not known but whenever it does come out, I'm sure most of us Gossip Girl fans out there will be tuning in.
So, there you have it, my best picks for 2020 TV. With so many great shows out there, picking only five was not easy.
Whether you prefer a gripping drama, a hilarious comedy or a sweet romance, there is a TV show out there for everyone to enjoy. A great series is one that surprises, scares or sometimes even saddens us with relatable characters and brilliant storylines.
There are so many things to do throughout the year, but don't forget to give yourself some me time and escape from all the day to day stresses by watching an episode (or 5) of your favourite show.
