We all have a birthstone that is assigned to us based on the month we are born. There is so much we can find out about ourselves based on this, whether it be the colour of the stone or it's healing properties.
January - Garnet
Garnets are beautiful and diverse crystals. They can sometimes change colours based on lighting, so they can be a range of colours, most commonly red but also blue and purple. This shows that people with this birthstone are passionate yet grounded. They are great communicators and have a connection to the universe. Garnet is also known to soothe an angry heart.
February - Amethyst
Amethysts are rich in history and meaning! It is a popular crystal amongst many and there is good reason for it. Amethyst is a gorgeous purple colour, meaning those who have it as their birthstone are in touch with their higher self. It is a protection crystal that enhances intelligence and wards off bad thoughts. People with this crystal need to meditate to connect with themselves again.
March - Aquamarine
Aquamarine is known for helping with well-being. Being the colour of the sea, this crystal is associated with purity of the soul. It is a stone used for safety and will protect those who have it from bad energy. It is a fairly large stone, however, Aquamarine isn't March's only birthstone. Bloodstone is also a crystal the can be connected to this month. It is red in colour and is quite different to Aquamarine!
April - Diamond
Diamond is a crystal sparkling with an inner fire, like those born in April. They are known to be strong, just like those who have it as their birthstone, but still have an emotional streak. Diamonds are exotic and best known for being in engagement rings, meaning people born in April love romance. They know they have an important mission in life and take control when they need to.
May - Emerald
Emerald is a birthstone symbolising health and wealth. It is exotic and mystical, perfect for those who like glamour in their lives! It is connected with a big heart and a wonderful imagination. Emeralds are associated with witches and also royalty. Their lush green colour is made for loving people and are perfect for people born in May. They are crystals of fertility and a popular gift for new mothers.
June - Alexandrite
There are a few stones associated with June, but this one has to be the best (with Pearl a close second)! Alexandrite is a rare crystal and can also be connected to Emeralds (birthstone of May). People with this birthstone are hard workers and like to be rewarded for their efforts. They can get confused quite easily, but are very smart in their chosen field.
July - Ruby
Ruby is one of the most sort after gems and for good reason. It is a crystal that easily captures the eye and its colour is associated with love and passion. Rubies are beautiful, just like those who have it as their birthstone. They are symbols of power and youthful energy and are protection stones. People with Ruby as their birthstone like the finer things and live their lives to the fullest.
August - Peridot
Peridot is a light green ancient birthstone. It is generally light green, although it can sometimes be a darker green colour. People who have this as their birthstone are normally night owls and are unique in their thinking. They are quite materialistic, but popular amongst many people. Peridot is a crystal associated with harmony and restful sleep.
September - Sapphire
Sapphire is a cherished birthstone. It is a crystal associated with royalty and romance and symbolises loyalty and the soul. Sapphires have a rich history, as for many centuries they have been worn by royalty. They also symbolise Heaven and are known to have many healing powers. Sapphires ward off bad spirits and are very popular with many. There are also some extremely famous engagement rings with this beautiful stone!
October - Opal
Opal is a rainbow gem that shimmers in so many beautiful colours. The best kinds of shimmering Opal come from Australia. It is a birthstone very much associated with the sun and sparkles when near it. Opal is multi-coloured and is best for those with shining personalities. Fire Opals are especially beautiful with their orange and yellow colouring. People with this birthstone are creative and strong-willed.
November - Topaz
Topaz symbolises love and affection. It is a beautiful yellow colour with golden hues. Topaz is a stone extremely connected with its wearers and has a few variations. Blue Topaz is a rare variation, meaning those with this birthstone aren't the best communicators, but do give it a go. It isn't a crystal for those wanting attention, but it is a symbol of honour and strength.
December - Turquoise
There are a couple of birthstones for December (Zircon is another one), but Turquoise has to be the best! Blue is the main colour associated with this month, as all its birthstones have blue hues. Turquoise is a gorgeous blue-green colour and over the years, royalty have adorned themselves with it. It has many healing properties, bringing good health and fortune.
