I was thinking about doing a summery dessert, but to be honest, the weather hasn't been that warm and the thought of eating ice cream is giving me chills (and not the good kind)! So, even though it is traditionally an autumn/winter dessert, here is one of the best recipes for an apple and blackberry crumble:
INGREDIENTS
4 Braeburn Apples
130g Blackberries
1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
110g Plain Flour
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
80g Cold Butter
75g Demerara Sugar
55g Caster Sugar
Cream To Serve (Optional)
Method
Preheat your oven to 177C/350F/GM4.
Core and cut your apples and put them in the baking dish with the blackberries and dust the cinnamon on top.
With your fingers, rub the butter, flour and baking powder together to make a breadcrumb consistency. Then, stir the sugars into the mixture.
Cover the fruit with the crumble and bake for 45 minutes.
Serve with whatever it is that you like on top and enjoy!
